Your muscles a friend or an enemy?
Of course I need my muscles,or even more strength ,is maybe your first thought. But what if the balance between the flexors and the extensor is wrong? The muscle is a contractile tissue that gets stronger and shorter with activity. They get shorter without a adequate stretch and/or wrong posture. An other problem is a static position, let’s say you keep your arm elevated for a couple of minutes. Then you soon get a fatigue in the arm caused by lack of circulation.
As result you get sore areas, trigger points, than can be active or sleeping TP. You get pain and lack of strength in the long run. Furthermore you can provoke an imbalance that change your posture dramatically. This can be avoided or at least reduced if you have someone with the skill to examine and guide you.

Correction of exercises, stretching, strengthening, inhibiting the tight ones, posture correction and ergonomic.
Who haven’t seen a real strong guy with bulging muscles but poor posture and walking like a duck.
I don’t think you would like to end this way.Result is an excessive wear and tear ending up with big joint problems.
Don’t do a lot of effort in the gym or elsewhere without a basic knowledge to reach your goal and feel better and healthier. We can help you, let’s Physiospain be,your gain.

It is a common condition that creates an imbalance in the musculosceletal system around the hip, pelvis and lower back. Although the condition is harmless then this imbalance over time creating unnecessary strain on muscles and joints. Over time, as an uneven load could inflict disabilities, decreased load tolerance and wear. It can often be a cause of recurrent ailments.

Cause:
Lower cross syndrome occurs by shortening the spinal (muscles on the back) crossed with increasing shortening of hip flexoers (muscles on the front) , weak buttock and abdominal muscles.

There are many reasons why one may have increased stress state (stiffness) of different muscle groups. The most common causes are incorrect posture / low level of awareness of how to perform daily tasks, improper training, one-sided stress and too high tension in the lumber area. And also general poor physical condition.

Symptoms:

Can be a pain in the lower back, hip or pelvic joints. Pain in spine, buttock muscles, hip flexores or groin.

Reduced mobility of the hip, pelvis or lumbar region.
Postural changes increased sway in the lower back, externally rotated hip bones, hyperextention of the knees,
increased tension / stiffness in the lower back and / or buttock muscles. Often shown with a protruding tummy.
Examination:
We will conduct a thorough medical history and examination to determine the cause and context of the imbalance and the postural changes that a lower cross syndrome has caused over time. Then we find the appropriate treatment measures.

Treatment:
Often the locked joints of the hip, pelvis, lumbar has to be corrected with one or more adjustments (manipulation), to restore normal joint movement. Treatment is usually not painful and you quickly see improvements in pain and function. This should be combined with guided strengthening of the weak muscles and stretching the tight ones and ergonomic training. In case you are a golfer, you should get help with the set up position and the swing characteristic. We can also help you with this as Verified TPI fitness instructor.

What can I do myself?

Try to maintain movement as well as possible.
Follow the exercises you been instructed to, both to strengthen the weak muscles and increase flexibility in the short muscles.
Prevention:

Good posture, increased awareness and concentration on how to perform movements without “cheating”.
Exercise, movement, stretching.
Maintain optimal functioning of the rest of the spine, hip, knee and foot joints. As you know, A path not walked on, grows fast up again. Synonymous with that, if you do not take out full motion you will eventually lose it.

Let Physiospain be your gain!

It begins with your explanation of pain picture, a general examination, then a following deeper, more specific evaluation of the injury or pain nature of the problem. It is this that is the strength in a physiotherapist thorough and specific evaluation, in order to determine the cause of your problem.Naturally, it is the essence of all effective treatment to achieve the expected results. Only then can an adequate treatment selected.

Visually
After the initial medical history, I will look for the wrong position, deviation from normal posture. Muscle weakness and tension, can almost always explain postural deviations. Visual examination of soft tissue swelling and changes in muscle size (hypertrophy, atrophy) will give me an important diagnostic indication.
This part of the survey called postural ANALYSIS.

Palpation / sensing I will feel (palpate) if there is redness and swelling in the injured area. Sensing the local soft tissue and bone is always an important part of my investigation. Palpation of the muscles will always give me information about charges. malfunction (dysfunction) which will require appropriate treatment. This part of the survey called STATIC palpation.

Mobility / muscle test Is it impaired movement in the area of pain due. injury? Testing of segmental lockups between vertebrae and bevegelsesesutslag both passively and actively. Muscle function as strength and flexibility are paramount to determine which tendon / muscle that is causing the problem. It is certainly not always the area of pain and pain cause correspond to each other. This is called an orthopedic functional test or DYNAMIC palpation.

Neurological test A neurological examination is essential for final diagnosis. Testing of deep tendon reflexes, decreased feeling (sensibility) is required to localize nerve damage. Manual testing of muscle strength / weakness / pain provides additional information. This part of the survey called FUNCTIONAL Neurology.

Complimentary investigations X-ray, MRI; CT, Ulralydskanner (see info); investigation may be needed diagnostic aid. It can also provide information on the issue is outside my field. Medical history, static and dynamic palpation and neurological examination will give me information about the need for these supplementary investigations. If so, you will be forwarded for further examination or advisable to consult a physician or other appropriate person.

Golf News

Golfer’s A-B-C
It is with great pleasure that the Norwegian magazine can present specialist in golf injuries, Rolf Martinsen, as writer of articles on the prevention of just golf injuries that over half of the golfers over age 50 suffer from. Rolf is also authorized Teitleist instructor.

The problems for golfers due to:
1. Poor physical fitness
2. Overload
3. Inadequate heating
4. Poor swing technique

We have in this number chosen to focus on swing technique. It all essential for a golfer to swing properly.
The correct sequence of your game that is right movement of the pelvis, torso, arms and iron are the alpha and omega. The movement, the force numbered, can be compared to a 4-stage rocket where 1st stage leading on to the 2nd stage, etc. This way you get the most power in the battle with the least effort.
If you have physical problems that limit your movement or strength, balance and coordination, you will automatically try to compensate this. It results in an uneven result and a big risk of overloading with pain and injuries.
Teitleist has produced a program called Screening. There is a schematic test of body motion, strength, balance, etc. providing answers to the problems you have with your sving’en.

There are 12 common swing faults that 65% of all amateur golfers. Let’s look at the solution of these problems so you come release injuries.
Good movement, but also good stability is required, so there is good advice for this.
Pretend to turn a seven is rolled iron, so you can find the neutral position of the pelvis. Try turning without next seven iron, but with his arms crossed over his chest. You must now try to tilt your pelvis back and forth. It is often difficult to get the muscles to do this because their backs are often stiff. When you do this, it will feel easier in one direction over the other. Upper body must be kept quiet, just pelvis to move.
Next test is pelvic rotation in the same sjujerns position. You need only rotate the pelvis without movement of the shoulders.
Next test is the rotation of the upper body and pelvis must remain stationary. It is a good idea if you have help from a person who can keep the pelvis still. – Why is it difficult? – A very big problem with players over 50 years is what is called “lower crossed syndrome ‘This means that the muscles in the hips and back are short and tight. When it is, they are too weak. Therefore it is necessary to strengthen and train the short muscles.

Unique treatments

Many golfers and athletes have injuries that can be cured with shock and pressure waves.
From 1960 shock waves have been used to crush Scale formation in body tissues. Since 1980, they have been used to treat kidney stones with great success. New clinical research has shown that many golf injuries can be removed completely or partly with shock waves. They can reach down to a depth of 8.5 cm and affect blood vessels by increasing blood flow. They increase metabolism and can dissolve Scale formation within the tissue, including muscles, mucus sacs and joints. It also stops inflammation in the joints and joint capsules.
The pressure waves going down to a depth of 3.5 cm and distribute the liquid in the treated tissue. Waves provide effective massage of muscle cells and increases blood flow, while the waste materials are discharged.
The above treatments carried out after a thorough examination of the injuries. The treatment itself is perceived in different ways, but there is normally no side effects.
Rolf Martinsen is an expert in the treatment of shock – and shockwaves and has healed many golfers with typical golf injuries to joints, muscles, golf arms, heel spurs, and the like.
